Fire Pit

Adam said that the fall chill in the air made him want to have a fire

 

It's not quite camping, but you still get smores and some of the other benefits without all the hassle. And you get to sleep in your own bed and use your own bathroom.

Jammin Junior

Derek was named the "Jammin Junior" at his high school for the month of October. I still think the Student of the Month stuff is kind of BS, but it feels a little less BS when you win it.

Junior year is no joke. Derek's plate is overflowing with all his schoolwork and activities. He just added an SAT prep class that meets for 3 hours every Tuesday and Thursday after school for the next month. 

Earlier this month before his county level Governor's Honor's interview

Derek was nominated for the Governors Honors Program in 4 subjects (Science, Math, Technology, and Social Studies), but you can only pursue one subject area. Derek originally thought he would try again in Social Studies since he made it to the final state level round last year in that subject area, but decided he liked Technology best and would pursue it this year. He made a portfolio of his various projects and achievements for the interview.

We've been getting pumpkins at the same church since the boys were little. I think because the church was near their pre-school and we would see the pumpkins when we drove by. Derek didn't care to go this year, but Adam did.
