Derek left at the crack of dawn to carpool with his team. We drove over in the afternoon on the way to meet up for a holiday outing with some of Helen's teacher friends.

It was a long day, but Derek's team ended up in the 3-team alliance that won the competition. He made it home just in time to quickly grab his hockey gear and drive to Alpharetta for his 9 pm game.
