Helen teary eyed before leaving to see Derek Saturday morning Georgia Tech released their early acceptance decisions Saturday at noon. There was much hand wringing on the College Confidential Georgia Tech 2021 applicant thread and the Georgia Tech Admissions Twitter Feed was fanning the flames. Derek volunteered as a last minute fill in for one of the school robotics teams. We were going to see him at the robotics tournament so we could all be together when he got the decision from Georgia Tech. |
The Georgia Tech website seemed to be overloaded, which was causing some stress |
Eventually Derek got his acceptance offer |
He wasn't as excited as we were - probably more relieved that the process was over The competition is ridiculous these days: only 28% of applicants were admitted with an average SAT score of 1468, average ACT score of 33, and average of 11 college level courses taken in high school. There were many kids on the College Confidential applicant thread posting incredible stats who were not accepted. We are very thankful that Derek will have this opportunity. |
Derek didn't seem interested in a big celebration so we settled on some Georgia Tech swag and take out barbecue |
Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech |
Congratulations and Welcome to Georgia Tech. This Is The Place. |
