Derek called and woke us 12:30 am Sunday morning to tell us he had just been sideswiped by someone in downtown Atlanta and wanted to know what to do. Not something any parent wants to hear, but things look like they're going to work out alright. Mostly, we're just thankful he's safe.
Last year Derek got rear ended leaving the high school parking lot and, because it was a stressful time for Derek at the end of the year, I handled most of the logistics. This time it's no more convenient for Derek with multiple essays and final exams coming up at Georgia Tech, but Derek wanted to handle things on his own as a learning experience. He agrees that adulting isn't that fun sometimes.
