We debated whether we should drive or walk, but it was such a pretty day so we decided to walk

Lots of cheesy tourist stores

Day or night there was always activity along Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame

Hollywood High School

Sunset Boulevard

There were plenty of trashy areas along the way, but there were also nice surprises like this beautiful nursery

Melrose Avenue

We enjoyed the residential areas - looking at the nice houses and landscaping

Lulu's Cafe reminded us of our dog Lulu

I love coming across unexpected surprises like this turtle pond in front of an office\apartment building

People were lined up at this restaurant. It took awhile to figure out what the name was.

Pan Pacific Park

CBS Television City apartments

Holocaust Museum

The Grove

Farmer's Market

There were so many choices - now all we had to do was decide what we wanted for lunch

Derek decided on the Brazilian barbecue place with the big line. Adam wanted chinese food so Helen went with him.

Food coma

These purple Jacaranda trees were blooming all over the place. They were really beautiful.

Museum of Art and the Miracle Mile

"Urban Light" sculpture

Rodin sculptures

Page Museum and La Brea Tar Pits

Feeling what it's like to be stuck in tar

Discussing how most fossils you see with the signature dark color probably came from the La Brea Tar Pits

Lots of recovered animal skulls

Working lab

A little tar pit up close

Project 23

Pit 91

Bubbling tar pit

All this walking is taking a toll

Adam started collecting the first of many souvenier penny stamps on our trip

Adam is always climbing

Park Brea was a strange place. On the map it looked like a huge park and we thought it would be a nice to check out and walk through, but in reality it's a big gated walled off mixed use housing development that looks a lot like "the projects". We ended up having to walk a pretty long way around it.

Back to the Farmer's Market for some ice cream

Playing in the park on the way back to our hotel

Taking a break. I bet we walked 10 miles that day.

Cute Minnie Mouse car

The end point of Route 66 (Santa Monica Boulevard in LA)

Muppet Studios (formerly Charlie Chaplin Studios - Charlie is peeking out the door under Kermit)

Back at the hotel

Our dogs were barking. We took advantage of the free hotel snacks and watched Due Date.
