New Mexico (Day 2 of 6): Albuquerque

Pretty morning view of hot air balloons in the distance from Hotel Albuquerque

Breakfast at the Gardunos restaurant in the hotel

We usually ordered "Christmas" (red and green chile) on the side

Checking out the hotel

The place was hopping with the Montezuma Ball the night before. They had the fireplace going and an elegant coffee station. We assumed that was the norm, but it was not. Still a nice hotel and lobby, but would have been better with continuous fire and coffee.

After breakfast we took a drive north along the Rio Grande river and stopped at the Rio Grande Nature Center

Rio Grande Cottonwood

The University of New Mexico cross country teams train along these trails. This plaque commemorates the 2015 Women's team winning the NCAA national championship.

Rio Grande Bosque

North along Rio Grande Boulevard through the Los Ranchos community and all the beautiful horse farms

Back into town along Central Ave and Historic Route 66

Back across the street to walk around the campus

Stunning

The boys loved seeing these guys playing a pickup game of roller hockey

Catch me, Catch me...just like when he was little

Back to our hotel for a Flamenco show

We really enjoyed the show and this duck tapas dish was so good. Adam plowed through it and ordered another.

Derek skipped the Flamenco show so we met him for dinner afterwards at Garduno's
