Stone Mountain

Stone Mountain usually has a big fireworks show on July 4th, but this year they were doing a show each day of the weekend. We knew the 4th always draws a huge crowd, but we were hoping it wouldn't be too bad on the 2nd. We were wrong.

The Sky Hike attraction was packed but the kids area wasn't too bad

We found a place on the lawn and put a blanket down to hold our spot

We had never been to the Barn before. The kids loved it. I thought it was a madhouse with kids running around screaming. Adam got Helen to be his ammunition gatherer.

We had some dinner and some ice cream and went to find our spot on the lawn. There were so many people by then that there were no clear paths to our blanket. We all agreed that we just wanted to get the hell out of that place as fast as we could and we started walking. On the way back to our van the people were still pouring in. Our pace picked up as if we were afraid other people would figure out what we were doing and decide all together at any moment to head for the exits. Thankfully, our escape was silky smooth. It felt so good - so liberating. I don't know that I've ever been so anxious to leave a place as a I was that night.
