Breakfast at the hotel

Bye Bye Magic Castle. We really enjoyed our stay.

We checked out but left our car at the hotel while we were out for the day.

Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame on our way to the Metro train station

Frederick's of Hollywood

We walked down Hollywood Boulevard to the Egyptian Theater. Most of the activity is around the Chinese Theater and things start looking a little more shady as you get beyond the Egyptian Theater.

Back to the Hollywood Highland Metro Station to catch the Red Line downtown

We got off downtown at the 7th Street Metro Station. We had planned to head to a visitor center shown on our map, but the nice guy in purple on the scooter informed us the visitor center had recently closed. Lucky for us, he did have some good maps of the downtown area.

We were hoping to do the self guided tour, but there was an event going on so they canceled the tours

Grand Central Market

Adam was so proud he got all this food for $3

Derek got a reuben sandwich

There was an older Asian guy who sat near us while we ate. He sat alone and slowy and methodically peeled and ate 3 ripe bananas for his meal. We always joke how I don't want to do anything more than "go on a walk with my honey and maybe have a sandwich", so Derek joked that the guy was me in the future. I said that would be fine - the guy looked perfectly content. Helen objected because he didn't have a honey with him.

Adam loves carrot cake and he also thought the chocolate covered banana looked good

Chinatown

Taking the Metro to Old Town Pasadena

Old Town had a lot of nice shops and restaurants. We weren't much for shopping but we did have some gelato.

So tired

We do a lot, but there are always plenty of things we leave on the table. It would have been nice to see Huntington Gardens, the Gamble House, and Caltech - but we just didn't have the time.

These guys were performing their robot dance routine when we got back to Hollywood Blvd. They were really good and the kids watched them for awhile. I even sprung for a tip.

We went back to our hotel in Hollywood to get our van and then drove about an hour south to Disneyland in Anaheim

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn across the street from Disneyland. We all love Disney, but Adam was especially excited and eager to experience some magic before the park closed.

Enjoying the fireworks while in line for the Matterhorn Bobsleds

Main Street

We were tired, but we hadn't eaten dinner so we had a midnight meal at the IHOP in our hotel parking lot
