Derek got a smartphone earlier this year and last week the rest of us finally got one. Now we're a full smartphone family...welcome to the 90's Mr Banks

We bought used phones from Swappa and we're using Ting as our wireless provider (activate a new account with this link and we both get $25). Derek was using the wifi only option with Republic Wireless, but their data options aren't as cost-effective as Ting's. Also, Ting does a really nice job of allowing you to manage multiple phone usage through their dashboard. Currently, everyone but Derek has data turned off on their phone and can turn it on when needed. I see a possible money-maker for Adam by selling his unused data allotment to Derek.

Derek seemed to really like his original Moto X phone, so that's what I got for the rest of us. Then Derek decided he would really prefer a Nexus 5.
