20 minute drive to St Mary's
Cute little store along the waterfront
Ranger orientation: "Don't do anything stupid that would make us talk about you later"
First of many horseshoe crabs on the island
Wild horses
Wild turkeys
Adam is so cute when he takes over the navigation
Hot walk across the island to the beach. Hope the vultures don't get us.
Made it to the beach
Lots of dead horseshoe crabs all over the place
Mile or so walk to Sea Camp
Shrimp boats
The Sea Camp area was so nice and canopied
Little visitor center with air conditioning
Walking back to the ferry dock
Had fun watching this "stick" move really fast and far through the water. Must have been attached to something.
Wow! You can really imagine what this place must have looked like back in the day in its full 37,000 sq ft glory
The "backyard" was huge too
Catching the ferry back to St Mary's
Walking along the St Mary's waterfront
We kept passing the King's Bay Submarine Base as we travelled back and forth between Crooked River State Park and the town of St Mary's
Napping in the air conditioned cottage
Back to St Mary's for dinner at Lang's
Tasty crab bisque
Crab cakes have some filler, but still really fresh and good
Excellent seafood platter
It was all you can eat crab legs night and there was a big group at another table taking advantage of it. We thought we would get some as well. Adam had fun with them, but they were kind of wimpy. We're spoiled after eating them in Alaska.
Nice sunset stroll to the marina behind the restaurant
