Neighborhood Campout

Last Saturday the boys went camping at Stone Mountain with a bunch of other kids from the neighborhood. Some of the kids, including Adam and Derek, had to leave later than the rest of the group because of hockey.

At one time most of the boys were in scouting, but they all eventually quit. Camping was the only thing the boys really liked about scouting, so a couple of the dad's stepped in and put together some neighborhood camping trips.

Capitol Fun Run, hockey, and camping all in one day - whew!

Jack, who just turned 4, was so excited that some of the younger kids got to go this time

Back home late Sunday morning

Adam said that Derek let out a loud "Yes!" when he drove by and saw that our lawn was mowed so he wouldn't have to do it. The lawn was mowed because Helen and I spent most of our kid free night doing yardwork. We did eventually get out for a late dinner but it felt just like our pre-kid life.

Derek usually goes along with the younger kids when he's invited, but he almost always comes back telling us to remind him not to do it the next time because the other kids are not well behaved and won't settle down, especially when he's trying to go to sleep.
