Relaxing at our condo in Seattle

Adam finishing off the last of the leftover Voodoo donuts from Portland. Looks like it was the cocoa puff donut.

Helen and I took the smaller queen bed and let the boys have the king

Waiting on the bus

Pike Place Market

Seattle has a lot of hills

The market is crowded and loud, but full of wonderful colors and smells. A real sensory overload.

We got some smoked salmon from this place and it was so good. We snacked on it for days.

Lowell's

Derek decided he needed some "real" food after not getting a legitimate meal the previous day

We really liked Lowell's. Like the Timberline Lodge breakfast, it became a standard to compare against. We kept trying to get back there, but never made it.

We saw that somebody had ordered this on our way out. That's what we wanted to come back and get later.

We walked around for awhile and explored the market

Pike Place Chowder

People were really lined up for this place

Back up the hill to catch the bus to our condo

The football and baseball stadiums

Our destination, Mount Ranier

We took the Chinook Pass Scenic Byway

Sunrise area of Mount Ranier National Park

The highest elevation reachable by car. It's not as crowded as the Paradise area. The visitor center wasn't open yet for the season.

Incredible beauty in the mountain meadows with all the flowers blooming

With all the shadows and bright light it was hard to capture the true colors. If I pointed the camera at the scenery then the sky washed out, but if I pointed the camera at the sky then the scenery darkened. Wish I was a better photographer.

We walked over to the Paradise Inn for dinner

The ambiance was terrific, but the food was shockingly average or below

We refer to this type of food as "cruise food". It looks good, but isn't. As we visited other lodges on our trip and had really quality meals, we kept talking about how underwhelming the food was at this lodge.

We headed to the café for some soft serve ice cream

Eating ice cream and enjoying the sunset
