Appalachian Mountains - Clingmans Dome (Day 1 of 6)

Making sure the camping gear is in decent shape the day before our trip. We used this article (http://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com/go-outside/10-stunning-viewpoints-along-appalachian-trail/) as a guide for our trip.

Blog post for next day (Max Patch)

Adam and Helen ready to hit the road

Derek got back late the previous night from his TSA Trip and wanted to get back to work and earn some money so he stayed home with Lulu

Adam did a lot of driving on the trip

Adam got a nice long demonstrative middle finger from a motorcycle driver when Adam hesitated too long at a stop before finally deciding to proceed with his left turn in front of the approaching motorcycle. It wasn't terrible, but the motorcycle driver definitely let Adam know that he needs to be more decisive in the future.

Nice visitor center on the way

Clingmans Dome

It got cold and we had to break out the jackets

It was warmer by the time we made it back down from the observation tower

We were tired and glad there were spots still open at the Smokemont Campground near Clingmans Dome
