We stayed the night at the La Quinta Inn near McAfee Knob, so we would be ready to hike in the morning Blog post for previous day (Grayson Highlands-Roanoke) Blog post for following day (Dollywood) Album for these photos All photo albums |
We didn't realize, until we heard several yappy dogs, that this hotel is quite popular with pet owners |

We were pretty much drenched in sweat on the way up |

We took the fire road back down |
Resting and stretching |
Rain threatened all morning and finally came as we were finishing up |
We started our hike talking about what were going to have at The Homeplace. Those thoughts kept us going all day. We were outside waiting when the doors opened at 4. |
On the road with full bellies We talked about continuing north to Harper's Ferry, our original goal, but things took longer than we expected and we decided to head back towards home. I told Adam that it might be fun to go to Dollywood on the way back and he agreed, so we headed for Pigeon Forge. |
