Kahekili Beach across the street from our condo

Snorkeling at the Sheraton's Black Rock

Helen talking to the boys. They passed once again on the early morning start.

Black Rock was neat in that it was a wall and as you get out around the point it gets deep, but besides the wall there wasn't much other coral in the area

All you really need - some good poke and a Longboard

Lunch at the Shark Pit Food Truck

Spicy Shrimp Tacos and Spicy Fish Tacos

Helen's not a big spicy fan so I got to finish hers too. Adam got some fruit from the stand next door.

Derek got the burger...again, but got burned when it came on a purple sweet potato bun he didn't care for

Dragon's Teeth

The golf course has signs that make it seem like you're trespassing, but you just have to follow next to the course on a public access trail down to the water

We walked along to the neighboring Ritz Carlton along the Kapalua Coastal Trail

D.T. Fleming Beach Park for Adam to play in the waves

North Shore Tour

Some type of animal skins hung out to dry or is it a skin suit?  When we find ourselves in a sketchy place or situation one of us inevitably makes a skin suit reference.

We met a really nice older guy in the parking area who voluntarily maintains some stone maze structures. He talked to us about the mazes and the area and said the natives considered these rough windswept cliffs to have bad mojo.

Nakalele Blowhole

Ohai Trail

Some fallen rocks

The road was narrow and winding and there were plenty of blind curves, but there was hardly any traffic and it never felt too dangerous. At least, not any worse than the backside of the Hana Highway.

Olivine Pools

Kahakuloa Head

Kahakuloa Journey

Kahakuloa Village

Kaukini Gallery

Turnbull Studios

We were disappointed that all the stands along the way were closed. Curley looked like she was closing as we longingly drove past and that's when she waved for us to stop.

Curley was super nice and we picked up some banana bread and fresh fruit. We thought her bread might have been the best we tasted. It was so moist it was almost a liquid.

Waihee Ridge Trail

Mendes Ranch

We came around a bend, the view opened up, and we saw these guys having a great time riding the air currents at sunset

They would circle around come to our level as we were perched overlooking the ocean

Sun is setting on the drive back to Lahaina

We stopped by Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop and picked up some peanut butter pie

Steam pork buns and Pad Thai from Star Noodle

Star Noodle was packed with an hour wait so we ordered some food to go and we were back at our condo in about 15 minutes.

  1. Love your photos from the tour. It brings back great memories of our trip to Maui two months ago. The snorkeling at Black Rock on Kaanapili Beach was amazing! We had trouble finding it at first, but ended up using the GPS map on the Snorkeling Dives website (https://www.snorkelingdives.com/?city=Kaanapali). Thanks for the tip on Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop -- it's on our list for the next visit.
