Side effects of lots of long days

Panorama Mountain Resort

Derek edges out mom for the win!

Adam wanted Derek to see Flower and the other horses he met the day before

Lunch at the resort

They made a good poutine

Packed up and leaving Panorama

Stocking up on groceries. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches always come in handy.

Driving north to Yoho National Park

Yoho Visitor Center

Emerald Lake Lodge

Emerald Lake

Emerald Lake was our best Canadian Rockies lake experience

All the glacier fed lakes have that beautiful turquoise color if you catch them in the right light. Under some conditions they're not that impressive, but when the light is right the lakes are gorgeous.

The water looked so inviting

We bought a Canadian flag towel at the gift shop so Adam and I could go for a swim.

It was cold!

It took awhile, but Adam finally went under

Drying out in the sun

Natural Bridge

In Yoho there's lots of information about the Spiral Tunnels used to slow trains down on the steep grades

It's neat to see when rivers meet, especially when there's contrasting colors like the white milky color of the Yoho contrasting with the bright turquoise of the Kicking Horse

Takakkaw Falls

You can hike right up to the falls where you can see, hear, and feel the power...and get soaked

Travel is often unglamorous and a pain. But if you don't make the effort then you miss out on experiences like this. We all agreed Takakkaw Falls was one of those "gem" experiences that remind us why we make the effort.

Laughing as we run and try to find somewhere to dry out

Elk

We saw this ice patch on the way to Takakkaw Falls and stopped to play on the way back

Train going through one of the spiral tunnels
