Click "More options" on the map to expand it

We packed up and drove an hour and a half north from our Seattle condo to Anacortes to catch a ferry to the San Juan Islands

We like to pet all the dogs we see

Approaching Shaw Island

We grabbed some chili and chowder before disembarking

We got off on Orcas Island

Eastsound is a cute town

Moran State Park

Beautiful view from the top of Mount Constitution

Back to the ferry

The boys and I made a dash for some ice cream while the ferry was unloading arriving cars

We departed the ferry and drove across the town of Anacortes to Deception Pass

It's very popular to walk across the bridge. It's really high.

We drove half an hour west to Roozengaargde

It wasn't tulip festival time so it wasn't crowded, but still pretty.

We took the North Cascades Scenic Byway

We loved Cascadian Farm

We got some yummy ice cream

North Cascades National Park

Why does everything have to close at 5? There's still plenty of hours until darkness. Don't they know it takes time to drive from the San Juan Islands.

The city of Seattle, hundreds of miles away, operates dams in the area to generate power for the city

Ladder Creek Falls Trail

We really enjoyed this place

What a beautiful drive

This road is only open in the summer

We spent the night at the Winthrop Inn
