Northwest 2015 (Day 8 of 22): Boeing Tour - Seattle

We drove 30 minutes north to Everett for the Boeing Factory Tour (Future of Flight)

They don't let you take your camera on the factory tour, but here are some photos from a Google image search

I'm so glad we took the time to do the tour. We all thought it was amazing.

There's also a nice exhibit area where they do let you take pictures

We drove back to Seattle and the Chittenden Locks

For some reason the kids found these pictures, in a book about mushrooms, hilarious

The grounds around the locks are also a botanical garden

We were hungry and the nearby Lockspot Café hit the spot

Fishermen's Terminal

It was a little tricky to find, but the Kerry Park Viewpoint had a great view of the city

Over to the counterculture Fremont neighborhood

Fremont Troll

We didn't have the exact address and drove around awhile to find the troll. We passed by some hip tech buildings with Adobe and Google offices. Derek said he could live and work in Fremont.

Gas Works Park

A great park with lots of activity and incredible views of the bay

Watching float planes take off

Adam was asleep when we saw the troll and wanted us to go back and look at it

Burke Museum on the University of Washington campus

Mask that inspired the Seahawks logo

Ranked 20th most beautiful college campus

The Cuff is off the chain tonight

Our condo was in the Capitol Hill area, which is the alternative lifestyle (gay, lesbian, LGBT, or whatever is PC these days) area of downtown Seattle. There was a nightclub, the Cuff, nearby that we would always pass. One night we were coming in late, as usual, and people were lined up around the block. Adam sat up and remarked that "the Cuff is off the chain tonight". The area was really vibrant with lots of clubs and activity. We really liked it.

We were there on the weekend that the Supreme Court decision to legalize homosexual marriage came down. The whole area went wild. It was really neat to be at ground zero during such a festive time.

Taking the bus to the waterfront

There was a convenient bus stop next to the condo

Wow!

We wanted to check out Pike Place Market in the evening and maybe eat at Lowell's again, but everything was cleaned out. How can there be so much activity and so much stuff in the morning and then have it all disappear by evening? We can't believe they go to the trouble of setting it up and tearing it down every day.

We walked about a mile to Seattle Center and the Space Needle

It was a little dicey at times. You can end up on some shady streets if you stay along the waterfront. We had to walk a few blocks away from the water to more populated streets.

There was still plenty of activity with the Space Needle and the Chihuly Gardens still open

But it was probably nothing like what it would be with the other places open in the middle of the day. Adam said he wished we would have gone to this place when everything was open.
